Basketball, Soccer, the Flag and the Creek

Hoop Shoot and Soccer Shoot chairman Steve Baez organized an outstanding Hoop Shoot and Soccer Shoot event.

It was great to see so many kids shooting baskets, kicking soccer balls into the goal, building confidence, and showing good sportsmanship. Each participant received a prize and refreshments were served.

Since 1908, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks has recognized June 14 as Flag Day. Flag Day is a day to honor the U S flag.

The Orange Elks held a Flag Day Ceremony & Celebration Honoring Our Nation’s Banner and remembering its Heritage. Americanism Chairman, Chris Michaelis presented the program that included the Star-Spangled Banner sung by Paloma Cortez, the History of our Flags, a Folding of the Flag by the Orange Emblem Club and the Singing of Lee Greenwoods God Bless the USA.

Members of the Lodge joined the Santiago Creek Greenway Alliance to pick up trash along the Santiago Creek. This project is a continued commitment to protecting and improving the Santiago Creek watershed. The trash picked up included a tent, bike, pillows and mattress.
