It is a time that they come out to honor those men and women who have fought for us and paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Saturday was Decoration Day and forty two Orange Elks and twelve members of the lodge’s boys and girls scout troops made sure “Old Glory Flags” were placed on every veteran’s grave to pay our respects.

Monday, Memorial Day, we all gathered back together to pay tribute to them and their families. Between the Tri-City Memorial and the Fairhaven Ceremony. The community and more then fifty Elks were present, members of the VFW, the American Legion, the Orange High School ROTC and more then a dozen Scouts participated in the ceremonies. Over 1000 guest attended the events including a 21 gun salute, a reenactment a civil war cannons being shot off, a fly over by vintage planes and songs sung by the Chamber Choir. The program was the “100th Anniversary of World War I, Honoring Veteran’s Sacrifices, Then and Now”.
