“As long as there is a Vet, the Orange Elks will never forget”. For the last thirteen years, the Orange Elks Veterans Committee has given out a scholarship of $1,475 to a veteran. Over $21,000 dollars has gone to those individuals acquire books, materials, in one case a computer to help them further their studies and acquire a degree in their major. This year our Veterans Committee members, Stephanie Fitzpatrick, Brian Fitzpatrick and Barbara Berger gave out two. The first to U S Army E5 Elvia Valdivia who served in Afghanistan. Elvia’s major is nursing. The second to Matthew James Carroll, USMC, who also served in Afghanistan. Matthew’s major is in Psychology and he wants to help the returning soldiers and veterans with PTSD.
