Our Veterans are people who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check payable to the United States of America, for an amount up to and including their life. Close to 500,000 veterans from the Iraq and Afghanistan war alone, struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). These conditions can lead to sleeplessness, depression, anger, anxiety and isolation. However, these conditions are treatable. One of the programs the Orange Elks support is the Patriotic Service Dog Foundation. The Foundation will train and provide a Service Dogs that will help our returning veterans to become more independent, self confident and help them adapt to life outside the military. The Veterans Committee of the Orange Elks donated $1,000 to Tom Tackett for the Tackett Service Dogs Scholarships. Each day 22 veterans will take their own lives. This donation will hopefully help reduce the statistic of 22 to Zero! “As long as there is a Vet, the Orange Elks will never forget”!
