ā€œAs long as there is a Vet, the Orange Elks will never forgetā€. This year our lodge has provide many programs for our Veterans that have included a Blind Veterans Lunch, Memorial Day Service program, played Bingo with the Veterans at the Long Beach Veterans Hospital, packed and sent care packages overseas, donated to Family Promise, held a Am-Vet Clothing drive, predicated in Forth Annual Stand Down,  presently sending meals and supporting the Broadway and Manor Houses in Santa Ana, served lunch and helped with the Wounded Warriors outing to the F B I shooting range at the old El Toro Marine Base, give a $1475 scholarships to a local veterans from Orange, donated to Patriots and Paws to name a few events. This week they donated $1,500 to help fund a lunch at Camp Pendleton.

Seventeen members representing the Orange Elks went to Camp Pendleton to serve lunch to some very special people.  These were 250 Wounded Warriors and their families.

The lunch included chicken, pulled pork, tri tip, baked beans, corn on the cob, coleslaw, rolls bread, cookies and drinks. Peteā€™s crew started cooking the night before. Each meal was served with a ā€œThank You for your Serviceā€!

This is the second time the Orange Elks have done this event. One of the encouraging signs of the event is the lower numbers of injured soldiers at the event. These are service people who incurred a service injury or illness on or after 9/11.

Today, we all agreed that of the many things we have done with the Elks over the years, this was one of the most rewarding. At the end of the day we also enjoyed the lunch.
