The Orange Elks for nine year have participated in the Dictionary Project. In that time, we have handed out over 24,000 dictionaries. This huge undertaking is completely funded by the lodge with a budget of $8,000 and is designed to give each student in the district their own personal dictionary. This is a year long project. The Orange Elks Lodge collects denotations, check with the school district for the number of third graders, orders the dictionaries, stamps them with the Orange Elks logo, insert a Drug Awareness book mark and then deliver them to the class rooms at each of the schools.
Twenty three lodge members stamped 2400 dictionaries and twenty nine members went to twenty seven schools, 71 classrooms and handed a dictionary to each child. The members handed out 2496 dictionaries with the book mark. The Hotel Kids were also included.

The dictionaries were unloaded form the boxes, the Orange Elks stamp was applied, a book mark inserted and then the dictionaries were reboxed.
