Orange Elks Lodge Donates to Charities
Each year the Orange Elks Lodge # 1475 Trustees set up a budget for charities in Orange County. This year was no exception. The following groups received help: 1. Project Hope School, provide education for homeless students $500 2. Discovery Arts (Bringing the arts to children with cancer and serious blood disorders) $500 3. Beverly House Fund (Center. Against Domestic Violence) $500 4. Casa Teresa Home (temporary home for single, pregnant women 18 years of age and older $500 5. Mary’s Kitchen feeds and assists the local homeless. $500 6. House of Hope Rescue Mission (for homeless or poverty-stricken women with children) $500 7. Threads of Love meets the needs of premature babies, supplying burial gowns for stillborn babies, Lovie dolls used for scent bonding, isolette covers etc. $250 8. Boys State (Send underprivileged yet smart children to Sacramento for a week to learn about state government) $250 9. Miss Orange scholarship fund $250 10. Queen For a Day Program, thru the Miss Orange, for underprivileged girls to spend a day with past and present Miss Orange contestants to learn grace, etiquette, etc. . $200 11. O C Legends Women’s Softball fast pitch softball team $200 12. Orange High Baseball team, $500 13. Homework House, a non-profit organization working to help school-age children in your community become better learners and better citizens $250 14. American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk $125 15. American Cancer Society Relay For Life $125
Who knew that Orange Elks member Merry Neessen would be a recipient of a Threads of Love “Lovie Doll” for her preemie daughter Abbey Lynne?!! Pictures are Abbey and the “Lovie Doll”.

The Orange Lodge presented a donation to Mary’s Kitchen. Mary’s Kitchen feeds the homeless and those in need. According to Orange Elks member and Mary’s Kitchen volunteer Sue Siegal, Mary’s Kitchen has seen a big increase in the meals served. Orange High School Baseball Team
Lodge members Gary, Jerry, Joel and Mike supporting the Orange baseball team. In an important league game, Orange defeated Ocean View 8 – 6. Go Panthers!
