The pandemic might have slowed down our country, but it has not slowed down the Orange Elks. Our lodge members have shopped for their neighbors, driven them to various appointments, helped deliver boxes of food to families, helped at the Youth Centers of Orange to pass out food and volunteered at several food distribution spots in our city. This year getting our Drug Awareness Program material out has been difficult. We have work with the Orange Unified School District (OUSD ) in getting the information to the elementary, junior high and high schools about the Elks Drug Awareness Programs. The students from OUSD can participate in our Poster, Essay or Video Contest programs. This year we received 15 entries for the Drug Awareness Video Contest, which is about half of the entries received last year. Mike Cash, Drug Awareness Chairmen, announced the winner. They were number 1 in the Orange Coast District contest and are now entered in the State competition. If they win there, they go on to the National Convention. Here are the winners from the three categories. Middle School Entry from Cerro Villa Middle School 7th grader Keiana DeGrave https://youtu.be/o47t3LBCuxY High School Entry from Canyon High School Junior Caden Schlechter https://youtu.be/x5ZvC7NxUJ8 Post High School Entry from Vicki K.
