This is the fifth year the Orange Elks have held an awards dinner to do that. Event Chairmen Janine Storm welcomed our honorees and their guests and said, “No words seem adequate to express the admiration and gratitude for these brave men and women who run toward danger to selflessly save others”.

Each year at the Elks Grand Lodge Convention, an Enrique Camarena Award is presented. Enrique S. "Kiki" Camarena was an 11year veteran agent of the DEA, who was kidnapped, brutally tortured and then murdered in Mexico in 1985. It is given to a law enforcement officer who has made a significant contribution in drug prevention and who personify Enrique’s belief that one person can make a difference. This year we recognized Orange Police Department John Mancini. He was instrumental in getting many types of drugs off the street including Fentanyl. Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid analgesic that is similar to morphine but is 50 to 100 times more potent and overuse can be deadly. L - R Scott Stephens Orange Coast District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, Detective John Mancini, Chief Tom Kisela, Catherine and Orange Elks Drug Awareness Chairmen Mike Cash
