The Orange Elks Lodge have two members who step up as chairmen to help the Orange Police Department. Mike Duff is the chairman of the police dog fund and since 2006 has raised over $26,000 to help purchase five police dogs. Amy Carr is the chairman of the Police Dog Veterinarian Committee. When a police dog retires, the officer has the opportunity to keep his partner but will assume all the financial responsibility for the dog including the veterinary bills of the dog. The members of the Orange Elks started and provide a fund to help cover these bills.

You know when you see a policeman you feel nervous. Well, how do you feel when you see the policeman and his dogs? Officers Damon Allen and his partner Bosco along with Jude King and Griffin recently stopped by the lodge. Bosco is a German Shepherds and is eight and a half years old. Griffin is five. Both dogs are highly qualified in narcotics detection, protect and keep their partner safe and help arrest the bad guys.. Griffin is a black German Shepherd and a member of the SWAT Team.

At the end of the evening Damon and Judd gave a talk about their dogs, how they interact with the police department and public and answered questions about their dogs. Bosco and Griffin even poised for pictures.
