QUOTE
October has come and gone and the 23rd Annual Holiday Boutique is over and done. It takes months of planning, mailings, follow-ups, flyers, obtaining insurance and health certificates, and working with the City of Orange to arrange for the banner to be hung over the street. I want to personally thank Sandy Brummett for her dedication to Emblem Club and this project – especially given all of the medical issues she and Gary had to deal with – they are both always there for us – just like the Post Office – rain or shine, sleet or snow (or in SoCal drought and heat of 100 degrees) she always does her job. Thank you, Sandy. Of course, no one can chair a project alone – thank you Maggie Smith – our Charter Member – for covering the front door and to Gloria for handling the lunch sales and to everyone else who helped in every way.
The Emblem Club is delighted that CHEA Past Vice President Stoney Bourke has invited the club to participate in the District Flag Retirement Program. Our team will present the Folding of the Flag on November 12. The program begins at 11:00 a.m. followed by a light lunch - $7.00 per person. This is an Elks open meeting; everyone is welcome.
Once again, our brother and sister Elks from Orange #1475 teamed up with Orange Emblem Club #418 and delivered our Drug Awareness Coloring Books to all first grade students in the Orange School District – at the same time as delivering their dictionaries to all third grade students. Thank you, Orange #1475! You are the best!
As the holidays approach, I speak for our Emblem Members and officers in wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. May you be blessed with a wonderful turkey dinner, all the trimmings, Your favorite beverage, dessert and most of all your loved ones.
In January, we will be honored with a visit from our Supreme President on January 19, 2017. Details to follow. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Thank you,
Â
