I was sad to learn that some of our Elk members felt the Emblem Club slighted our veterans at the Installation of Officers. The Emblem Club supports veterans throughout the year under its Americanism programs in the following ways:
• Orange Emblem Club donated a check to the DAV, which was delivered to Commander Jim Torres.
• Orange Emblem Club created 70 packages of greeting cards for deploying troops(delivered by our Orange Elks veterans committee). We plan to continue this project going forward.
• Orange Emblem Club donated boxes of books and magazines, which Stephanie and Brian Fitzpatrick kindly delivered to the Long Beach Veterans Hospital.
• Twenty-nine hand-made lap robes (made by Emblem and Elk members) were delivered to Fisher House at the San Diego Naval Base by Jan Genelle, escorted by Scott McKee and accompanied by John Smith.
We (Emblem Club) have the highest respect for our veterans and always will.
