Every one knows about acronyms. In the Elks, we know that ENF is Elks National Foundation. Members of the Newport and Orange Elks Lodges had an ENF (Extra Nice Feeling) when they entertained twelve blind and vision impaired veterans to a lunch and a Duffy Electric Boat ride around Newport Bay.

The Elks give their “Time and Talent” to help the veterans enjoy the day. Rick Blake and Karen Johnson-Roach served a lunch that was pulled pork sliders, potato salad, coleslaw, chips, soft drinks and cookies for desert. Rick cooked the pork and is the past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler and Karen is the wife and first lady of the Newport Lodges Exalted Ruler Dan Roach.

Each Veteran received a gift that included a $25 gift card from Walmart, a flashlight and several other items.

The boat rode around Newport Bay. One of the skippers was Dan Roach, Exalted Ruler for Newport Lodge.

As we toured the bay, Dan pointed out several interesting sights.  Although they were blind or vision impaired, their senses were very good to the sights, sounds and smells of the bay. Like seals on the sail boat.
