The Orange Elks Dictionary Project is a year long project. The Lodge collects denotations, checks with the school district for the number of third graders, orders the dictionaries, stamps them with the Orange Elks logo, inserts a Drug Awareness book mark and then delivers them to the class rooms.
The Elks are committed to getting the word out about eliminating the use and abuse of illegal drugs and it is essential that our children be raised in a drug-free environment. Drug Awareness Chair Chris Cooper and member Mike Cash helped design fifteen different bookmarks. Mike printed the bookmarks that were used for this event.
Then forty four members visited twenty seven schools, one hundred classrooms and each child received their own dictionary.
Over twenty three hundred dictionaries were handed out this year and over 18,000 handed out to students since the project began.
