The Orange Elks Lodge #1475 has helped the Orange Police Department purchase four police dogs. In 2006, Orange Elks member Mike Duff saw an article in the Santa Ana Register about the Orange Police Department needing a police dog. Since then Mike has help raise over $21,000 to purchase four police dogs. The Elks help their community and helping the police department with the purchasing of the dogs is very rewarding. Raising the money for purchase is easy. Monday and Tuesday night meal deals, the doggy bucket, auctions, car washes by lodge members children at their schools has helped raise the money and donations from lodge members. Meet Bosco! He is the newest K-9 police dog for the Orange P D. He is from Czechoslovakia, four and a half years old German Shephard, trained and titled. Bosco’s new handler is K-9 officer Damon Allen who is an eighteen year military veteran and completed tours in Iraq and Kuwait.
