Flag Day Celebration is an Orange Elks Tradition! Patriotism has characterized the Elks since the early days of the organization. The Pledge of Allegiance is a requirement for every meeting. In 1907, the Elks Grand Lodge designated by resolution June 14 as Flag Day. The Grand Lodge of the Order adopted mandatory observance of the occasion by every Lodge in 1911, and that requirement continues. Don Westerfield, Flag Day Chairmen, presented a great program that included a video of Red Skelton's Pledge of Allegiance, our Boy and Girl Scout troop members giving the history of the flags that line our lodge room, the Emblem Club ladies presenting the Folding of the Flag, recognizing of our veterans and singing of “Grand Old Flag” and “Proud to be an American”.
