Have you ever wondered how the Orange Elks spend their donations? The Orange Elks Lodge # 1475 Trustees set up a budget each year to donate to local charities in Orange County. This year was no exception. Under the leadership of Exalted Ruler Oscar Garza, the lodge had a problem. They budgeted $8,000 to donate and after an extremely good year in new members, donations from lodge members and a great Street Fair, that figure was increased to over $21,000. This year the trustees picked twenty seven charities and organizations. Here are a few benefactors of that good fortune. The NTAF Southwest Spinal Cord in the name of Zack Collie, Prospect Elementary School for computers and software programs, ALS in the name of Barry Turner, Mary’s Kitchen that feeds and assists the local homeless, Threads of Love (meets the needs of premature babies, supplying burial gownss, lovie dolls used for scent bonding, isolette covers etc.), donations to three Boy Scouts for their Eagle Scout Projects, TMR (The Music Room) which offers performing and visual arts classes and performance opportunities to the children, The All American Boys Choir which helps preserve America's musical heritage, CHOC (NICU) which provides newborns needing critical care, most often premature babies suffering from respiratory and circulatory problems and lastly we set up a fund for Veterinary bills for retired police dogs that the lodge has purchased for Orange P D.

Prospect Elementary School
The Trustees of the Orange Elks Lodge # 1475 donated $3,500 to the Prospect Elementary School for new Computers. The school was given the software program “Read 180”, but did not have the funds or means to obtain the computers needed to run the software. Because of the Elks donation, Prospect Elementary was able to purchase the computers they needed, and also create a computer lab which had not previously existed.
