CHOC?s (Children?s Hospital of Orange County) Cleft and Craniofacial Family Picnic is back. The Orange Elks are known for their Teamwork in the community. Working with CHOC on this special event was very rewarding. A cleft occurs when certain body parts and structures do not fuse together during fetal development. Clefts can involve the lip and/or the roof of the mouth, which is made up of both hard and soft palate. The picnic was held at the Santa Ana Zoo for patients who have been treated at Children's Hospital of Orange County for craniofacial problems. The event gives these children an opportunity to meet and enjoy a special day with other individuals who have experienced similar challenges. The Orange Elks volunteers helped set up the event and serve these special children and their families. The picnic included Western Dance Demonstration, Limbo Group Games, Water Fun Games, Group Games, Tug of Wars, and Ice Cream Because Elks Care and Elks Share, our members and their families helped make this one of the best events! Choco, Rene Chavarria and Bianca Chavarria
