The Orange Elks Lodge #1475’s Christmas Basket Program continued in 2021 bigger and better than in 2020 while working around the Covid-19 Virus. The program assists our community by donating Christmas Baskets to families in need. The goal in past years was to hand out 200 Christmas Baskets (boxes) to families in need with young children. This year Colin Smith, the Lodges Christmas Basket Chairmen had the help of Mike Cash, Adam Thomasson, Colin Smith, and Don Westerfield wanted to prepare 250 Christmas Baskets to help make Christmas a little more magical for the residents of our community. Colin oversaw The Christmas Basket Program’s success by involving a lot of people that helped get the project done. The people behind the scene were Michael Cash who coordinated with Orange Unified School District for the families, Don Westerfield worked with Orange Police Dept. for the best way to get cars in and out of the parking lot, Adam Thomasson for preparing a kitchen crew for the Italian dinner that was served to the people who pack the food baskets, Mike Jung and his team who prepared 250 boxes to be packed for the families, JC Cortez worked to secure the help of the Orange Fire Departments Explorers, Terrie Schatz and Marilyn Dinger for getting a team of elves to assist on the Friday Night Italian dinner and Cindy Corrales who made sure the lodge was ready. As you can see, many people worked hard to make this event the best one yet. Our Italian Dinner crew

Toys were donated by Pet Food & Treats from Spoof Dawgs to the Rescue, 300 boxes of food from Grocery Outlet, food from the OC Food Bank, help from OC Supervisor Don Wagner and Orange Mayor Mark Murphy, the City of Orange, Home Depot, Albertsons, and the Huntington Beach Elks Lodge for donating remote control cars. Kelley Martinez and her daughter K J helped pack the Baskets.
