Members of the Orange Elks Lodge talk about many things. But one of the usual topics is home grown tomatoes. Member Linda Corcoran had an idea. Let’s have a contest to determine the best home-grown tomato.
A five-dollar entry fee was charged. There were twelve varieties and 30 votes cast. The contest raised $120.00 and was donated to the Fire Peer Support Dog Program. The Peer Support Dog Program funds the support dogs that are used as a therapy dog to help the men and women that go out on traumatic calls deal with the stress of the job and may also be used on calls where residents could use a little puppy love.
For the second year, Rose Cunningham was the winner.
